Now that the semester is in full swing, between work, classes and extracurriculars it can be hard to find time to relax. Stress can build up, but taking a second to sing (scream) a few songs in the car can help relieve some of that stress. 

Here are a few songs I’ve been singing lately to help let go after long days of work or to get me going in the morning. 

“INDUSTRY BABY (feat. Jack Harlow)” by Lil Nas X

If you read my review of Lil Nas X’s new album, it should be no surprise that this song is at the top of the list. The victorious trumpets and the marching band percussion make me feel, as the song says, like a champion. 

“Positive Sedative” by Albright

This St. Joe’s-based band just released their debut EP last week and I’ve been listening to it on repeat ever since. Reminiscent of Def Leppard and Led Zeppelin, this song in particular has a great distorted guitar riff, intense drums and screaming vocals, making it a great song to jump-start your day.

“DEATHCAMP” by Tyler, the Creator

With a killer guitar riff, a hard-hitting rap verse from Tyler and a really interesting distortion, this song always puts me in a better mood. Jamming to it definitely helps release stress. 

“Only Angel” by Harry Styles

Many of us (myself included) were unable to see Harry Styles when he recently came to Philly. To make up for it, I’ve been listening to his music a lot, and this song never disappoints. With Style’s rockstar vocals and the catchy guitar, I always find myself belting out this song in the car, even though the melody is a little out of my range.

 “Miss The Rage” by Trippie Redd (Mario Judah and Toxic Tripz Remix)

Ever since it blew up on TikTok, I’ve always preferred Mario Judah’s remix of this song to the original by Trippie Redd and Playboi Carti. The beat in the original is fantastic, but Judah’s punk metal vocals make the song that much better. 

“3005” by Childish Gambino

Whenever I’m in the car or at a party, I stop whatever I’m doing and sing this song. Gambino’s vocals are so infectious, and the beat is just so fun. This song brings me back to summer when I didn’t have all the stress of school.
