St. Joe’s announced new dining plan modifications and meal plans for the fall 2020 semester in a June 23 university announcement from Tim McGuriman, associate vice president of Administrative Services.
“These changes increase flexibility and options for students, take into account the academic calendar modifications, and support physical distancing practices designed to keep us all safer,” McGuriman wrote in an email to The Hawk.
The changes include a price-reduction for all dining plans as well as an increase in the number of meal exchanges in each plan to enable students to use meal swipes in P.O.D. Markets across campus. Students will have the option to choose from six new meal plans.

For every meal plan, $35 of all dining dollars can be used for Good Uncle, a food delivery app that delivers food to students at locations around campus. Hawk Cash, Dining Dollars and Add-On Dining Dollars will also be available for all students.
In addition to Good Uncle, Home Chef Meal Kits will also be added to the new 25 Block plan. Home Chef delivers pre-packaged ingredients and recipe cards to students.
Both Good Uncle and Home Chef, are partnered with Aramark. Good Uncle was acquired by Aramark in August 2019, and Home Chef partnered with Aramark in October 2019.
Available dining plans for students are still based on their residence hall selections. First-year students living in Villiger Hall, Sourin Hall, LaFarge Hall and McShain Hall will be enrolled in the Weekly 19 plan, with the option to upgrade to the Weekly 19 Plus plan. Residents of Xavier Hall must choose from the Weekly 10, Weekly 19 or Weekly 19 Plus plans, and all students living in apartment-style residences or off-campus may choose any dining plan desired, or none at all.
The university is also adding new satellite dining locations, including Mandeville Hall 123 and the expansion of seating in Doyle Banquet Hall South. Additionally, guest meals on all plans will be removed to limit community exposure.
