HOT:

Dining Out For Life: Everyone loves to eat, but it isn't everyday that you can do so for a good cause. On May 1, over 200 restaurants in the Delaware Valley will be full of patrons eating out to help thousands of people in this region. Each restaurant will donate 33 percent of the cost of each meal to fight the battle against HIV/AIDS. With over 100 local places participating, including hot spots such as Buddakkan, Pod, and Continental, there's a perfect dish waiting for all different taste buds. While all locations will be participating for dinner, many are also including lunch (and in some instances breakfast) to help this cause as well. Not to worry if you don't have the funds to splurge on a fancy meal; donations are more than welcome in any denomination. For more information and a full list of participating restaurants, visit http://www.diningoutforlife.com/philadelphia.

A Candy Store.com: How many times did your mother tell you that too much candy will give you a toothache? Well, she won't be able to stop you once you check out this Web site. Although the majority of items on the site are meant for events and are sold in bulk, you can find anything that you could possibly want all in one place. My favorite is the movie theatre sized giant boxes of sweet favorites like Hot Tamales and packs of your favorite brand of candy cigarettes. You can even search for things based on occasion, so you'll have the perfect Mexican candy for your Cinco de Mayo celebration, or even pirate themed pieces for your next gathering. If this site doesn't satisfy your sweet tooth, I don't think anything will.

NOT:

Gas Prices: For those of you who have the privilege of driving up and down City Avenue every day, I'm sure you've noticed the signs at the gas stations going up, reaching a high of $3.50 per gallon this past week. Regardless of how fuel-efficient your car might be, nobody likes forking over his or her credit card to have fifty bucks eaten up immediately. Until they go down, carpooling will help alleviate the financial situation, but the weather is getting warmer, so walking won't harm you either. If you absolutely need to fill up regularly, you might want to consider getting a side job.

Finals: Just when you think summer is within reach, you realize there's something else in your way: final exams. While we're trying to make the most out of our remaining time here, it's not easy trying to juggle a social life and study time. I'm not sure if this is applicable to everyone, but I've found that most people I've talked to have at least one exam that's cumulative. Cumulative exams are the bane of college students' existences. Trying to cram a few chapters worth of information is hard enough, but when you have to do that for an entire semester it's never fun. Since they're not going away, best of luck to everyone and enjoy your summer!
