The women's club basketball team is nearing the end of another successful season, despite often competing with only six or seven team members. They traveled to Rutgers on April 11 and escaped with a win, thanks to a second-half comeback to overcome what once was a 14-point deficit.
The Hawks followed that with a tough trip to Maryland that saw them lose games to Towson and the University of Maryland. The game against Maryland was a heartbreaker, as the Hawks nearly erased a 15-point deficit with a 20-9 run to close the game, but the comeback fell just short, with a 49-45 loss.
The women's basketball team closes out the season with a tournament on April 18-20 at the University of Pennsylvania. They will be playing the University of Delaware, Georgetown, and University of Mary Washington.
The men's rugby club chalked up another impressive victory this weekend, shutting out Albright College 47-0. The Hawks played a strong game fundamentally, and were able to score at will while keeping Albright at zero. Chris Watts, '09, converted six of seven conversion kicks on the seven tries by the Hawks.
The men's rugby team will be in action next in the Capital Cup in Washington D.C. on April 19. They will face Catholic University, Georgetown, and American University in the competition.
The men's lacrosse team rounded out its official schedule with two wins over the weekend. They took down Williamson Free School by a score of 9-4 on April 11, and defeated Temple 7-2 on April 12. They finished the season with a 4-3 record, and are looking to schedule additional matches this season. The team will not qualify for the playoffs this year because they were unable to play the required eight games by the April 13 deadline.
