Letter:Crime report misleading
Issue date: 4/2/08 Section: Opinion
To the editor:
The incidents of crime report in the March 12 edition of The Hawk reported an alcohol party at 2420-4 Golf Rd. where "numerous underage students" were observed.
The "party" was a small affair for a 22nd birthday, and not a single underage student was in attendance. Both the Philadelphia Police and SJU security were on the scene, and neither organization checked a single student's ID.
Thus, this report was written inaccurately, as residents of this address we were wrongly accused of providing alcohol to minors. We do not take criminal accusations against us lightly, and we feel that this error borders on libel.
While we understand the process of combating underage drinking, it is our hope that it is done more accurately in the future.

Editor response:
The Hawk receives the Incidents of Crime from the Office of Public Safety each week and prints them word for word. We assume no responsibility for discrepancies in their reports.
