As the leaves change color and fall weather hopefully arrives, the club sports season on Hawk Hill hits full stride. Currently, over 10 club sports are up and running; of those, roller hockey, women's club basketball, and women's golf are reaching crucial portions of their schedules.

The roller hockey club has been in existence since 2002, and is divided into A and B teams. The A team is coming off a 16-0 season last year. The B team enjoyed a similarly successful campaign, winning the Philadelphia Collegiate Roller Hockey League (PCRHL) Tier II championship.

This year, the B team is led by St. Joe's roller hockey alumnus Mark Kuczynski. The squad is fortunate to have several veterans returning from last year's championship run. Among those upperclassmen are Ryan Henry, '08, Pat Elko, '08, and goaltender Brad Kingett, '09.

This season, the A team is lead by a new coach, Steve Stunder, '02. He comes to Hawk Hill after leading Drexel University to a #10 national ranking last season.

The A roller hockey team benefits from a great deal of returning experience. Led by captain Stan Tilton, '08, and alternate captains Mike Simpson, '09, and Rob Moloney, '09, the team is a blend of veteran leadership and young talent.

Among the team's upperclassmen are Ryan Boyd, '08, and Tim Hurley, '08, while a trio of newcomers in Ken Snyder, '11, Anthony Stola, '11, and netminder PJ Troiano, '11, add new life to the squad.

This unique blend of players has Stunder excited about the season's prospects.

"I expect this team to be fun to watch," said Stunder. "No one is going to work harder than us. These guys work every day, and we plan to bring a championship back to Hawk Hill."

Also up and running this fall season is the women's basketball club. In its second semester of existence, the Hawks are led by founder and co-captain Alex Bretschneider, '09, and her fellow co-captain Katie Sakalosky, '09.

On the court, the team has tremendous balance between their frontcourt and backcourt play. Up front, it is Sakalosky and Emily Herman, '09, leading the charge. The corps of guards is anchored by Bretschneider, Brittany Keesling, '10, and Ali Leone, '09.
