The President's Desk: Renovate Campion

Hello fellow Hawks!

Following what I hope was a restful and fun fall break, I'd like to take this opportunity to give all of you some updates on some important events coming soon.

We have now made it over halfway through this semester (can you believe this weather?), which means we are halfway done with our classes, halfway to winter break, and halfway finished with this session of your Student Senate.

It has been a great year, and we are not losing momentum to work on great projects and make sure your voices are heard.

The time is quickly approaching, however, to elect new senators and new officers. I want to encourage all of you who may be looking for a way to get involved, who are interested in what is going on behind the scenes at our University, and who may want to see a change to consider running for a position on the University Student Senate for next year.

Don't think that we are doing a good enough job, or could be doing something differently? Don't just complain; join and make a difference! Election packets will be available in the coming weeks, and actual voting will take place at the end of November. Stay tuned to MySJU for more information!

Also coming down the pipeline: your Student Senate will be organizing an open forum for all students to attend and discuss the upcoming plans for the renovation of Campion. The University has generously allocated funds to start the expansion and reconfiguration of our humble yet beloved student center.

Most of this project will consist of reorganizing the way Dining Services and the cafeterias will be set up, and it is very important that all of you as students have a chance to give input to this project. Dr. Cary Anderson, Ph.D., Vice President for Student Life, the heads of Dining Services, and the chief planners of this project all are eager to hear student opinions, and we want to make sure all of you have a chance to voice it.

Do you think we should have more cafeteria space and less meeting space? Should different dining options be placed at different locations? What kinds of changes would you like to see in our student center?
