Phil Martelli's first book, "Don't Call Me Coach: A Lesson Plan for Life," has hit bookstores, having debuted on Sept. 17. The book is co-written by Harold Gullan, Ph.D., an accomplished author, historian, and avid sports fan.
The book details Martelli's vast experience over his 30-plus years as an assistant and head coach at various levels of basketball. From his travels, Martelli has selected countless pieces of wisdom in dealing with scores of players and fellow coaches.
Martelli uses this experience to design a 10-point outline that he calls the "lesson plan for life." His plan transcends basketball, applying to children and adults in all roles of life.
With the release, Martelli has several book signings scheduled: Oct. 6 at the Collingswood, New Jersey Book Festival, Oct. 17 at the Barnes & Noble in Rittenhouse Square, and Nov. 4, at the Borders in Wynnewood. In addition, on-campus book signings will be also be scheduled at dates to be announced.
