The Hawks were scheduled to take on the Georgetown Hoyas in Rockville, Md. for a three-game series, but bad weather spoiled the series.

The three game series was rescheduled and relocated to Newport University in Newport News, Va. for a double-header against Georgetown.

As a result of having to play a doubleheader, the first game was seven innings and the second was a full nine.

Georgetown entered the weekend with an 0-3 record. The first contest looked very promising for the Hawks as they took the lead early when the Hawks put two runs up on the board on an error by the Georgetown right fielder Matt Ianetta.

Unfortunately these would be the only two runs that the Hawks would earn.

Georgetown took back the lead in bottom of the inning, when third baseman Joe Graziano hit a three-run homer with two outs, and would continue to put runs on the board in the remaining innings.

The Hoyas put up two runs in the second, four in the fourth, and a final run in the sixth inning to seal the Hawks fate of a 10-2 loss.

Jeff Williams, '07, would be charged with the loss. His record on the season is 0-2.

Later that night, the Hawks took on Georgetown for the second and final time.

Once again, Saint Joseph's took the lead early when Drew Smith '10 homered to drive in Ben Wendle '09. This Drew Smith's first collegiate career home run.

The Hawks tallied three runs in this inning on three hits. Also, the Hawks suffered an unfortunate loss when Joe Cook '10 injured his shoulder when he caught trying to steal second.

Georgetown posted two runs in the same inning. The next run by either team would not be scored until the bottom of the third by the Georgetown Hoyas.

Pushed by momentum, the Hoyas scored three more runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Hawks answered back in the top of the fifth inning scoring a run when Jeremy Jakubowski '08 singled to right field driving in Tim Smith '08.

Saint Joseph's put up another run when Jereme Scott '08 singled to right field driving in Chris Cashman '08.

The Hawks posted another run in the top of the sixth after Tim Smith doubled to right center field, followed by another single by Chris Cashman advancing Tim Smith to third.

With runners on second and third, there was a wild pitch ,which allowed Smith to score and Cashman to advance to third. Cashman would be left on base.

Georgetown had a big seventh inning scoring three runs on three hits.

The game would continue to be close until the final inning because the Hawks answered Georgetown's three run inning with a run themselves in the top of the eighth when Mike Boyland '10 tripled to right center, and then was drove in by Chris Hildreth '08 when he flied out to second base.

The game was 9-7 going into the top of the ninth for the Hawks. Cashman would reach on an error by the third baseman, and then would go on to steal second base.

Drew Smith would single to right field driving in Cashman for the Hawks' final run of the game leaving the score 9-8 in favor of the Hoyas. Mark Dolaghan was charged with the loss.

Drew Smith had a remarkable outing, going 4 for 5, with his first collegiate career home run.

Saint Joseph's is scheduled to take on the Delaware Blue Hens in Newark, Del. on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 2:30 p.m.
