Flurries delay season wins

The 2007 version of the Saint Joseph's Hawks men's lacrosse team has gotten off to a 0-2 start in the early part of the season, suffering losses to both Delaware and Navy.
The team looks to right itself when it takes on the Drexel Dragons this Saturday in their first home game of the young season at Finnesey Field at noon.
The Dragons are ranked 17th and currently post a record of 1-1 following a 8-6 loss against Lehigh University.
The Dragons are quite the formidable foe, however, as illustrated by their 11-10 win over the University of Virginia on Feb. 18, a school which was ranked number one at the time of the game.
The Hawks will certainly have their hands full trying to contain the explosive Dragons.
Drexel is led by Andrew Chapman, who tallied two goals against Lehigh ,and Mike Filippone, the Dragons senior co-captain, who will be leaned on for scoring this season since Drexel lost six starters from last season's lineup.
In goal for Drexel is Bruce Bickford, who was a preseason First Team All-CAA pick by Inside Lacrosse magazine.
Last season, he was 15th nationally in save percentage with a mark of .574 and 31st in goals against average at 8.96.
The Hawks are led in goals by Peter Slowik, '10, who has registered three to go along with one assist thus far.
Tying him for the team lead in points is Steve O'Brien, '08, who has registered four assists in the early season action.
Last week's Hawk Athlete of the Week, Erik Hotaling, '09, starts in goal for the Hawks, and he is presently sporting a GAA of 16.56 and a save percentage of .492.
The statistics for the first two games are really telling as to why Saint Joseph's has gotten off to a difficult start.
The team is averaging only 4.50 goals per contest and is averaging only 16 shot attempts per game, as opposed to the opposition's 54 per game.
The men's lacrosse team average more turnovers than their opponents and with a one-man advantage thus far this season the team is 0-14 on the power play, failing to execute when they have the chance to.
