"Infinity on High": Latest from Fall Out Boy

Issue date: 2/21/07 Section: Entertainment
Fall Out Boy recently released their third major installment in a long line of musical genius, Infinity on High.

The album launched into stores February 6 and has already given people the warmth they need to get through this bitter cold winter.

Prior to Infinity on High, Fall Out Boy secured many loyal and devoted fans with the smash-hit albums Take This to Your Grave and From Under the Cork Tree.

Although Fall Out Boy has remained true to their style with their new album, they do offer a refined tone and crisp sound that will definitely lead to a toe-tapping good time.

Hailing from Chicago, the members of Fall Out Boy certainly were no strangers to the music scene or each other when they started out. Two of the four previously played together in a little-known hardcore band and two grew up together.

Once the four joined forces, there was no stopping them. Peter Wentz, Patrick Stump, Joe Trohman, and Andy Hurley were about to make themselves known, and they certainly have.

Fall Out Boy has a very distinct sound that is grounded in catchy sing-along lyrics, thrilling guitar chords, phenomenal drum beats, and Patrick Stump's awesome vocals.

These talents are showcased in each and every song on Infinity on High. In my opinion, the best tracks are "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race," "I'm Like a Lawyer with the Way I'm Always Trying to Get You Off," "Hum Hallelujah," "Thanks for the Memories," "Don't You Know Who I Think I Am?," and "I've Got All This Ringing in my Ears and None on my Fingers."Alright, so that's almost half of the songs on the album; let's just face it, this CD rocks.

Put the album in your music player, press play, and the first voice you hear will be Jay-Z, yes it's true, Jay-Z. What a way to start.

After the first two songs play, the first single off the album, "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race," will begin. This song makes you want to turn the volume up really loud, sing along, jump up and down, and really get caught up in the moment. The timing of the instruments and vocals are perfect and the song never slows down from the minute it starts.
