With red being the color of the year, you can bet Valentine's Day is going to look like everyone has been hit with one of Cupid's arrows, and ended up looking like him. It is a colorful holiday, and it's easy to combine reds and pinks into your wardrobe to celebrate.
This year, if you want to look festive for Valentine's Day, (whether you're preparing for a romantic dinner or going out on the town with friends), heed my advice: keep it subtle. Here's how!
The best thing about colors is that they come in different shades. So calm down, pink and red lovers (I myself am one of them)! Mauve, wine, or deep burgundy works too, especially if you're going out after dark. So guys and girls, here are some suggestions that can make your Valentine's Day eye-catching.
Ladies: If shoes are the most important part of your outfit, try some of your best designer jeans with a stylish black top. Pair it with a dark red bag and some matching pumps (or boots if you prefer).
Not planning on wearing jeans, or going for a more sophisticated look? You're in luck because the ever-evolving wrap dress is functional and stylish. It goes great under a long trench with some boots, pumps, or stylish flats.
Dresses are more popular than ever, and depending on the style, you can pair it with some leggings or ankle boots. Don't be afraid to put your own spin on it!
Don't forget accessories. They can really pull an outfit together, especially if you plan on wearing black or another dark, solid color. Last but not least, treat yourself to a Valentine's Day manicure or purchase a deep red nail polish. It's trendy and flirty, and the perfect accessory to any outfit.
Gentleman: First and foremost, your girlfriend is your number one accessory. Don't forget to acknowledge all the work she put into her perfect Valentine's Day outfit! Depending on how dressed up you plan on getting, some dark jeans and a dark red or deep purple collared shirt would look classic.
If you like color, try stripes. Dark reds, browns, and deep purples look great together and make for a super smart look that is perfect for a night out.
Also, khakis are always an option. A crisp, black, collared shirt with khakis and stylish black dress shoes is a classic and timeless look, no matter what the occasion.
Whether you're a fashion buff or not, your style says a lot about you. If you love your look, others will too. Just remember that confidence and poise are the most valuable accessories (and they're free)! So don't leave home without them. Happy Valentine's Day!
