The Saint Joseph's Women's Track team continued their stellar indoor season, finishing first in team scoring at the Collegeville Classic at Ursinus College.

As a team, the Hawks recorded 131.5 points, placing them atop the 13 team field. They narrowly edged Kutztown University (126.5), The College Of New Jersey (76), and Millersville University (61).

The Hawks were paced by victories in three individual events, two of which were produced by Nicole McMullen '10.

McMullen's first win came in the 200 meter dash, where she finished with a time of 26.33 seconds. Her second triumph was in the long jump, with a winning distance of 5.35 meters. Rebecca Powell '07 followed up by notching a win in the 800 meter run. Andrea Florida '09 and Amy Rhein also placed in the event, taking 7th and 8th place, respectively.

The extent of St. Joes' scoring was much deeper than just the three victories, as they put forth a complete and balanced team effort en route to victory.

In the 55 meter hurdles, co-captain Valerie Ramirez '07 finished second in a time of 8.41 seconds, an improvement on her own school record. Ramirez also recorded a 5th place finish in the 200 meter dash.

"Valerie was our top performer," says Coach Kevin Quinn. "She continued her steady improvement with a big effort. An improvement of almost 0.2 seconds (over her previous mark of 8.60) at such a short distance is outstanding."

The mile run also brought great success for the Lady Hawks. Rhein finished 2nd in the event, joined by Anna Cushing '10 in 5th and Caitlin Reusche in 6th.

The deepest event for the Hawks on the day, however, was the 100 meter run, which saw four of the squad's veteran runners place in the top eight.

The attack was led by Erin Kelly '07, who finished 3rd. Also tallying points were Suzanne McHenry '07 in 4th, Adriene Beltz '08 in 5th, and Renee Spangler '07 in 7th.

The Hawks' 4 x 400 meter relay teams also enjoyed success. The "A" squad captured 3rd place in a time of 4:18.21.
