HOT:
Lindsay Lohan Enters Rehab: Rumors have been running rampant since Lohan's camp confirmed that Lindsay did in fact admit herself to Wonderland Center last Wednesday. Although she sought help from A.A. earlier in the year, the reason for her stay in Wonderland hasn't been revealed. The L.A. facility treats everything from heroin addictions to obsessive shopping habits and eating disorders. One thing is for sure though: Lindsay won't be bored. The center boasts yoga classes, fabulous food and rooms with spectacular views. Looks like Lohan is in for an adventure in Wonderland.
Snow in SoCal: Wednesday brought snow to parts of the San Fernando Valley as a light dusting settled, forcing Interstate 5 to be shut down. This "snowfall" marked the first time parts of the West Valley had gotten any type of snow in almost two decades. Although the snow excited many residents, the cold front has ruined much of California's fruits and vegetables, in particular, their share of oranges. Prices have already begun to increase as the demand for produce goes up. According to the L.A. Times, state officials are trying to estimate the money lost from the crop freeze and have determined that a one billion dollar price tag would be affixed in the worst case scenario. So much for a snow day.
Olympic Battle: In a race for the 2016 bid, L.A. and Chicago are squaring off. Los Angeles seemingly has the upper hand, hosting two summer games in 1932 and 1984, with arenas and venues already set up and in place, but don't throw Chicago out yet. Chicago's facilities would be closer together than L.A.'s, resulting in a closer athletic community. Additionally, Chicago has never hosted the games before, and is an untouched market. The International Olympic Committee will vote in 2009, pitting the winner of the two U.S. cities against places such as Rio de Janeiro, Rome, and Tokyo. The U.S. hasn't hosted the Summer Games since they were in Atlanta in '96. Regardless of whether or not Chicago will triumph over L.A. in terms of who gets the bid, the U.S. will prove to be a force to be reckoned with come decision time.
