BCS Championship Game
No.1 Ohio State Vs. No. 2 Florida
The story in this game is whether or not Florida can validate their leapfrog of Michigan and their No. 2 ranking. Coach Urban Meyer, known for his offensive mind, has his work cut out for him.
With only an average running game to show, Florida may rely on the arm of Senior quarterback Chris Leak and the legs of stud Freshman quarterback Tim Tebow. Tebow, built like a linebacker, is outstanding on short yardage runs and at the goal line. Offensively, Florida has four top receivers.
Leading the way is WR Dallas Baker with nine touchdown grabs. Ohio State has actually improved a defensive unit that had lost nine starters from last year, with six of those players being drafted into the NFL.
Linebacker James Laurinatis and cornerback Malcolm Jenkins are big time playmakers for the Ohio State defense.
A great matchup in this game will be Ohio State running back Antonio Pittman, with his nearly 1200 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns versus the nation's sixth best run defense.
Florida is holding opponents to under 75 yards a game on the run. This matchup could decide who will wear the crown.
If Pittman can get big gains on the run, it will open up the pass for Troy Smith and his talented wide receiving duo.
If Florida can hold OSU to third and long, for the majority of the game, we may be in for a surprise ending.
Rose Bowl Game
No 3 Michigan vs No 8 USC
With Michigan missing out of the top game by the slightest of BCS margins and USC laying an egg against UCLA, it will be interesting to see the mentality of these two teams. Both teams have a lot to prove. Will Michigan play hard and prove to everyone that the BCS made a big mistake? Will USC come out and prove to the nation that the UCLA game was merely a fluke?
Look for Michigan to pound running-back Michael Hart against a USC defense that held the season together for the Trojans while their offense was trying to get on track.
