Last year on Dec. 2, I stood in front of the University's Board of Trustees, somewhat nervous, with a thousand thoughts running through my head and in anticipation of the upcoming year when I would serve the students of Saint Joseph's and the University community as Student Body President. Now, one fast year later, I am ending my term with mixed emotions. I feel proud of what was accomplished but at the same time I am beginning to realize more and more that my time at SJU is winding down.

The first time that I truly realized how special Saint Joseph's is was my freshmen year standing in the Fieldhouse watching the Hawks battle it out on the big screen against Nova. Words cannot describe what the atmosphere was like in the Fieldhouse that night. The entire complex was filled with SJU fans for a game that wasn't even being played there! The cheering and chanting were by far some of the most intense that I can remember - the amazing part was that the team wasn't even there! That night though, I definitely came to realize what SJU was all about - family, passion and spirit.

This past year has gone so quickly but has definitely given me a unique opportunity to serve not only the student body but also a place that I know I can call home for the rest of my life. I was in Boston this past week on a job interview and met up with an SJU alumna who absolutely went out of her way to make sure all the SJU students were comfortable and understood completely what was going on. When I was experiencing this, I couldn't help but think that she portrays the type of person that SJU produces. I am extremely excited to become a part of an extensive alumni network that gives back to the community and achieves substantial heights in their respective fields.

I would like to thank the entire student body for giving me this opportunity to be your representative over the past year. I would also like to thank the 6th University Student Senate Administrative and Executive Boards, the administration, faculty and staff who have been an integral part of coaching and supporting me through my time as Student Body President!

Again, thank you to all who have supported and guided me through this past year - the successes that we have accomplished for the student body would not have been possible without you!

As always, if I can ever be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at james.finore@sju.edu!

With Pride in SJU,

Jim Finore
