To the editor:

Have you ever heard of the phrase "six degrees of separation?" Where anyone can be connected to someone else through five intermediaries? Our University is connected in the same way. Alumni, undergraduates, professors, administrators, we all share common experiences and are part of the Saint Joseph's University community.

It is our spirit that pushes alumni and students like us to make a difference no one thought possible. It is intellect that changes a culture and inspires others. And it is purpose that creates our passion to succeed in our chosen fields. Saint Joseph's University is the foundation that helps us to gain our spirit, intellect, and purpose in life.

Every class, every athletic event, every meeting, every time we've just had fun with our friends: it all flows from the same source - SJU.

This University gives us so much whether we like to admit it or not. Many times we answer that challenge to give back to university and community. Through Appalachia, weekly volunteering, Greek life meetings, raising our hand in class, or wearing that crimson and gray sweatshirt for all to see: saying, "Hey, I go to Saint Joe's and I am proud of it." We contribute to our second home.

As seniors, we help define SJU because of who we are individually and as a class. Our class has a very unique identity. We are a group of men and women who have seen "perfection", grown with our President, and reinvigorated the passion of our defiant cheer, "The Hawk Will Never Die!" We've built homes, formed friendships, danced the night away with the elderly, cheered until our voices were lost and enjoyed every minute of it.

Our experiences have been what they are because of our choice to come here. We made that choice as individuals; we live it as a class.

Saint Joseph's University asks us for one more thing before we fly away from Hawk Hill; to leave behind a legacy. It begins with you, the individual, to decide what you want The Class of 2007 to leave behind for future Hawks. What part of our experience will we share? What will define us as a class?

The decision to support Saint Joseph's is one that will follow us for the rest of our lives and connect us forever to the experiences we had and the community we helped shape. By accepting this challenge we join with alumni, professors, administrators, and friends of Saint Joseph's; making sure that our alma mater can continue providing to Hawks like us for generations to come.
