A player with nerves of steel, ice running through their veins, and a sweet stroke that is good from anywhere.
When the Hawks need a big three they have options to turn to… Jen Oyler and Jenna Loschiavo.
The love-hate relationship a shooter shares with the clutch three is almost unparalleled. Everyone is counting on you, the whole game on your shoulders in the waning seconds; it can be both great and devastating.
You have to love the glory, there is no better feeling in the world then draining that last second three to win the game, not to mention you are the hero and everyone loves you.
At the same time what if you miss?
The despair of missing, the whole game lost because of that chance, that one shot.
You feel like you're on an island, isolated from everything, alone with no one to help you.
A shooters dream is hitting that three with time running out, but the sound of that clank on a missed shot is their worst nightmare.
Oyler and Loschiavo are the players that faced that fate last year and will be there ready and willing again this year for Saint Joseph's Women's Basketball team.
"It's a good feeling when you are the one selected to have a play run for you to get off a 'clutch' shot," said Loschiavo.
Both took their fair share of bombs last season as their premiere season on Hawk Hill.
Each are now known as the key deep threats for Saint Joseph's University.
This year the Hawks have the availability to stretch the floor more often on offense with the increased experience between Oyler and Loschiavo.
These sharpshooters, both sophomores, were known as excellent shooters in high school.
Oyler, the 6'1" guard from Oregon City High School. Oyler continued her brilliance from the deep her freshman year finishing last season fourth best in the A-10 Conference shooting 37.6 percent from behind the arc
Loschiavo, a 5'7" guard out of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, strengthenedt the front court for the Hawks last year and has earned the reputation as "A tremendous shooter with a quick release... Constant threat from behind the arc."
With these two masters of the three on the court St. Joe's could score almost at will from deep and both will cause extreme match- up problems for many defenses.
