Their living room may not be decorated.
Their kitchen sink may be filled with dirty dishes.
And the laundry is pilling up in the corner of their rooms.
But every Thursday night, Amy Wold, Jen Oyler, Krista Hutchinson, and Timisha Gomez make brownies and watch Grey's Anatomy together.
"I can't say that they are from scratch though," stated Krista Hutchinson. "It is definitely out of the box."
So for an hour, the dishes in the sink can wait.
Four basketball players living in a tiny apartment in Rashford Hall has the recipe for disaster, but somehow no one turned in a roommate-change form yet.
Wold is the new girl in town. Currently a psychology major from Cedar Rapids, IA, Wold never saw a crabcake before. According to Hutchinson, she does her share around the apartment and likes to rearrange the living room furniture.
"The living room furniture probably has been changed seven times," said Hutchinson.
"And for no real reason. It usually ends up in the same place where it was originally."
Wold rooms with Oyler, sophomore guard from Oregon City, OR. Both Hutchinson and TImisha agree, Oyler is the messiest.
"Jen likes to leave her clothes and book bag everywhere."
Being a biology major, Oyler has lots of books.
Weekends are spent in recovery. Early morning practices on Saturday are followed by brunch prepared by Gomez.
"Brunch is my favorite meal," said Gomez. "We go all out with eggs and bacon."
Deemed the apartment cook, Gomez is known for her macaroni and cheese and BBQ ribs.
Both their freshman and sophomore year, Gomez and Hutchinson lived together in St. Mary's Hall.
With this being their first year with a full kitchen, the girls take the opportunity to cook.
"It gets hard to have dinner with everyone every night, but we usually set aside one night so the four of us can eat together," said Hutchinson.
"Everyone is from far away and so is our family."
Gomez also states how easy it was to get along with the girls.
Over the past two years, they have been on a roller coaster ride, balancing being a full time student, full time athlete, and maybe having 15 minutes of fun on the weekend.
"Krista and I have been friends from the beginning," said Gomez. "Living with her has been amazing and so easy.
Four female athletes rationing very little hot water.
Piles of practice jerseys and basketball shorts spilling over the laundry baskets.
But these girls have the best ingredients: Amy, Jen, Krista, and Timisha.
