Dining Services is once again is seeking to better serve the students of Saint Joseph's University. Over winter break improvements were made throughout all the dining facilities. Greg Harlan, Director of Food Services, was pleased to report, "We've done a lot of cleaning up." According to Harlan, many small improvements occurred, such as re-painting of the Crimson & Gray Cafeteria ceiling, which had acquired an ugly yellow tone over the years. Other small improvements include the remodeling of Pizza Hut; all the wallpaper was removed and replaced with paint and tile work. The Java City was moved to where other drink products can be found in order to make more space for the most popular lunch product, the buffalo chicken wrap. This decreases the waiting time by providing an additional station for the wrap.

On a larger scale, there has been an addition to the Hawk's Nest - the new Hershey's Ice Cream stand. Harlan happily explained, "We knew that it would do well, but it's doing better than we estimated. We are selling about seven barrels a day."

Dining services has also added a new made-to-order breakfast menu. In addition, the entire dinner menu has been changed. Harlan explained, "We have taken the menu from the University of Pennsylvania and applied it to our school. We know that their menu has been successful; therefore we decided to use theirs instead of trying to develop our own." The dinner menu now rotates on a three-week schedule; each night there are new fresh food items, with a section solely dedicated towards health-conscious food products.

The dining services website has also been improved. Now, when a student wants to add money to his/her declining balance online, the new balance will be updated immediately, as opposed to the old version that required students to wait up to 24 hours for the money to be placed on their accounts. The new menus for the Crimson and Gray Cafeteria's dinner can also be found online. Furthermore, dining expenses for the students have not increased despite the numerous enhancements made.

Dining services hopes that the student body at Saint Joseph's is pleased with the improvements, and as always they welcome more suggestions and opinions.
