Marrapese had a solid offensive weekend, scoring five goals over the span of two losses last week.

The men's lacrosse team suffered two tough losses against Manhattan and Mount St. Mary's this week, ending the two-game winning streak coming into the week. Artie Marrapese, '13, stood out in both games, totaling five goals.

After winning their two previous games, Saint Joseph's looked to extend their win streak to three against Mount St. Mary's during the final home game of the year. The Mountaineers (8-3, 0-5 MAAC) opened up the scoring in the first half, but the Hawks (2-12, 2-5 MAAC) struck back quickly with two goals of their own.

Soon after, Mount St. Mary's replied with another goal, tying the game at two apiece. The Hawks then scored on a goal by Peter Slowik, '10, with 3:46 left in the first quarter to take a 3-2 lead. The Mountaineers scored and tied the game 3-3 as the period came to an end.

Joey D'Avanzo, '10, started the scoring in the second quarter with a goal to take the lead. But Mount St. Mary's struck back with two goals, including one that snuck past Hawk goalie Griffin Ferrigan, '12, with 20 seconds left in the first half to take a 5-4 lead. The Hawks out-shot the Mountaineers 20-12 in the first half.

The second half didn't start too well for St. Joe's as Mount St. Mary's scored back-to-back goals to extend their lead to 7-4, but Hawk attack Charlie Gorman, '10, netted his only goal on the day to bring the Hawks back within two. The Mountaineers struck back at the 10:21 mark before Kyle Williams, '13, scored a goal and assisted Scott Cullinan, '11, for his one goal to make the score 8-7. But the Mountaineers proved to be too tough as they added three more goals before the end of the third quarter and outscored St. Joe's 8-1 in the final period winning by a score of 18-8.

Looking to rebound from their loss on Wednesday, the Hawks faced off against the Manhattan Jaspers on Saturday. Within the first seven minutes, the Jaspers (6-7, 4-2 MAAC) took a 3-0 lead, but the Hawks struck back with goals by Trevor Dougherty, '12, and Charlie Gorman, '10, to bring St. Joe's within one. Manhattan scored again to end the frame making the score 4-2 at the end of the first quarter.

Steve Dunn,'13, started the scoring in the second quarter but the Jaspers struck with back-to-back goals to bring the score to 6-3. The Hawks then came within one with goals by Sean Evans,'10, and Artie Marrapese,'13, but Manhattan scored as time expired in the first half making the score 7-5.  Evans, brought the Hawks to within one at the 5:15 mark in the third quarter but with 2:21 left to play in the third, the Jaspers went on a 3-1 run making the score 10-7 as the period came to a close.

After being out-shot by the Hawks 23-15 in the second and third quarters, the Jaspers out-shot the Hawks 12-9 and outscored them 4-1 in the final period of play making the score 14-8.

The Hawks look to close out their season with a win against Wagner in Staten Island on Wednesday at 3 p.m..
