The stores around campus can get old quickly, but the stops along the R5 regional rail toward Paoli offer easy access to an abundance of shops and restaurants.

Hope’s Cookies

Voted the best cookies in the area by “Philadelphia Magazine” several times, Hope’s Cookies use 100 percent all natural ingredients. The shop also sells ice cream, yogurt, muffins, and coffee. Located at 1125 W. Lancaster Ave., www.hopescookies.com

Arrowroot Natural Foods

Arrowroot is a unique store that offers a wide selection of organic foods, supplements, and hygiene products. Produce, frozen foods, grains, beans, and a variety of snacks, including fresh baked goods, are available for the conscious eater. Soaps, shampoos, toothpastes, and other personal products provide an organic alternative to traditional store-bought items.

Bryn Mawr Film Institute

The Bryn Mawr Film Institute plays independent films not often shown in larger chain theaters. Student tickets are cheaper than the average movie theater and the BMFI offers free student tickets to a number of its special events.

Gold Million Records

Gold Million Records sells used (and some new) vinyl records, 45s, and products made from miscellaneous record parts. While the store stocks a few high-priced items, many of its records are very affordable. Every wall of the store is covered floor to ceiling with records, posters, and autographed guitars.
Located at 851 W. Lancaster Ave.

The Title Page

The Title Page sells used and rare books. From its humble building, you can hardly predict the wealth of interesting books inside. Check out The Title Page if you are a bibliophile or just looking for a unique title you might not be able to find in a chain bookstore. Located at 1 Franklin St., just off of Lancaster Ave.

Irish Pubs

Bryn Mawr isn’t home to too many restaurants of interest to college students, but it does have quite a few Irish pubs up and down the main fare. Erin Pub and The Grog are just two of the Irish bars you’ll see lining Lancaster Ave.
Located at 1000 and 863 W.  Lancaster Ave.
