On Wednesday, former Kinks frontman Ray Davies will play for David Letterman in support of his recently released "Collected" and "The Kinks Choral Collection." It remains to be seen whether he will play something by The Kinks or some of his solo material.

The Avett Brothers will continue their tour of late night television with a performance on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." Their Letterman performance of "I and Love and You" was disappointing given their usual live performances. Their performance of "Laundry Room" on Craig Ferguson better captured the spirit of their live shows. Hopefully their latest performance will continue the upward trend.

Brian Setzer will boogie over to The Tonight Show with Conan to perform with his orchestra on Wednesday. Hopefully, he'll be playing something from his new album, "Songs From Lonely Avenue," and not participating in the destruction of Thanksgiving with some of his Christmas material.

On Thursday night, John Mayer will woo David Letterman with his good looks and new album, "Battle Studies." Hopefully Mayer plays something up-tempo so his fans won't fall asleep after staying up to catch the performance.

Elvis Costello will continue his partnership with Stephen Colbert and stop by The Colbert Report on Thursday. He's supporting a new album, "Secret, Profane, and Sugarcane," released earlier this summer.

On Friday, Conan will stick with the elaborate 80's hairdo theme and be visited by Bon Jovi. With the World Series over, it'll be interesting to see what they sing about. Girls and motorcycles have gotten them this far; who's to say they'll stop now?

Jimmy Kimmel will be visited by Death Cab for Cutie, who appear to be making a resurgence since taking a break for frontman Benjamin Gibbard's Kerouac inspired side project. The band's only recorded material this year is the song "Meet Me on the Equinox" for the upcoming "Twilight" movie.

Elvis Costello will continue his late night tour, following up The Colbert Report with an appearance for Jimmy Fallon on Friday.

Over the weekend, Saturday Night Live will feature musical guests Dave Matthews's Band, likely in support of their newest album "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King."

Austin City Limits on Saturday night will feature Pearl Jam. Their appearance will likely feature material from their new album "Backspacer," hopefully split up by some of their older material.

On Sunday, My Morning Jacket will have likely the most interesting and promising musical appearance of the week. The band will be featured as the theme of an episode of "American Dad." The episode, titled "My Morning Straightjacket," involves one of the characters becoming obsessed with the band. The partnership is rumored to have started when one of the "American Dad" creators witnessed My Morning Jacket's 2008 Bonnaroo performance. From the information leaked online, fans should be pleased. The episode is rumored to feature the My Morning Jacket songs "I'm Amazed," "Steam Engine," and "Remnants," along with an appearance by Zach Galifianakis as a superfan. Also, the leaked images include Jim James sitting on an "American Dad" character who is being carried through the air by owls as the band floats in the air around them.

Also on Sunday, ABC will broadcast the American Music Awards. The show will feature 17 performers, including Lady Gaga, Green Day, and Keith Urban. Odds are, the show will be an exercise in the pop music industry patting itself on the back.
